FLYER 2
Building on the great success and reliability of Flyer, Flyer 2 is ideal for pilots who dont want advanced functions but a high precision instrument, simple and friendly in use. Being the base model of new range it introduces characteristics and functions that have no comparison on the market, for example updateable software from Internet without any special hardware interface. Flyer also features graphic LCD display, graphic altimeter , only one battery (AA size rechargeable battery compatibility) and 3 years warranty. Electronic logbook feature added lately.
Flyer 2 will find its fans among all levels of pilots.
CARTESIO 2
Works with an external GPS. Some important characteristics In addition to Flyer 2: Playback function to review directly on the Cartesios display the whole flight, polar curves, visual and acoustic Speed to Fly and other functions that make this instrument like a personal trainer.
Also glide functions, thermal sniffer, thermal centring function, auto zero thermal altimeter, user customisable display, acoustic headphone output etc.

It is a global instrument, capable of being used anywhere in the world even as a car based GPS combined with a cell phone containing a navigation program.
Description of the new functions:
STANDARD FUNCTIONS:
1) Graphic altimeter
A real time function that displays a time/altitude graph that scrolls from the left the right while you are flying. It enables you to see how you are climbing or turning in a thermal. It is particularly useful in weak conditions where it is important to make flat turns.
2) Super-fast vario
The new instruments have an ultra-fast pressure sensor and excellent data acquisition ability that allows obtaining fast and accurate vario data (updated 20 times per second!!) When you enter a thermal, it starts beeping immediately while other varios are still sleeping.
ADVANCED FUNCTIONS:
3) Playback
is a function that displays the tracklog of your flight (a kind of barograph but on the same LCD screen of the vario). You can review and analyse the previous flight moving the cursor on the barograph without a personal computer.
4) Auto-zero thermal altimeter
is a special altimeter that automatically zeroes when you start to climb in a thermal. It indicates altitude gain in a particular thermal.
5) Thermal sniffer
is a function based on net vario indicating there is a thermal near you - it alerts you before vario starts beeping so you get alerted in advance.
6) Thermal centring function
is is a graphic function helping to locate the core of a thermal. It displays a graphic representation of vertical speed in the last selected period of time taking away the guesswork associated with estimating distances from the last change in lift or sink.
7) Direction to the last thermal
is a graphic function working only if GPS is connected. It will navigate you back into the last thermal.
8) Safe landing glide cone indication
is a graphic function (displayed as a circle) working only if GPS is connected.
It analyses your current position, altitude, efficiency and other flight parameters. It indicates that you can reach the landing waypoints.
If one ore more landing waypoints are inside the circle it means that you can arrive and land safely there. You can also setup an alarm that warns you if the landing waypoint is going to be off the limit of the glide cone circle.
SPECIAL FUNCTIONS:
9) 10 Vocal synthesizer
is a device that "talks" to you with pre-recorded messages (stall alarm, close to FAI cylinder, close to exit from the "safe landing glide circle", etc.)
1 Bluetooth GPS function for car navigation
works as a stand alone Bluetooth GPS receiver and can be connected to any car navigation system.

TECHNICAL NOTES:
13 LCD difference from the old models like FLYER
The old LCD was a segment LCD (icons and symbols can't be changed). The LCD used in the new vario range (all models) is a graphic model: it means that is possible to change different screens, indications, text etc (same as personal computer LCD monitor).
It is a very powerful feature because it is possible, just by changing the firmware, to produce a complete new indicator or functions. This way the vario will always be modern and updated to new customer requirements.
14 Updateable software from the internet without any special interface
To update the software you don't need to use an expensive special electronic interface (FlashPro), but only a simple and cheap Pc-to-Vario connection cable (usually already required for the Pc connection).
15 Rechargeable Ni-MH 1,2V AA battery with tabs
For safety reason the internal battery charger can recharge only AA battery with tabs (there is no risk of damage if non-rechargeable batteries are used).
1 Wall power supply adapter for integrated battery charger
is the power supply adapter ( 90-230 Vac input / 5V dc output). It connects to varios that integrate the battery charger (all EXCEPT Flyer2).
Leonardo Pro is the only model with integrated dual independent batteries. The main one is rechargeable lithium and the second one is AA rechargeable Ni-MH battery with tabs. When the lithium battery gets flat, Leonardo Pro will switch automatically to the AA battery.
Leonardo Pro is delivered with the "charger kit" included in the price: 1 AA rechargeable Ni-MH battery with tabs and 1 wall power supply adapter.
The wall adapter recharges both batteries at the same time.
For Cartesio2 and Leonardo the "charger kit" is optional
The Flyer2 does not have the integrated battery charger.
All models: is always possible to insert a standard 1,5V AA alkaline (not rechargeable) in the battery slot
All models: is always possible to insert a rechargeable 1,2V AA battery (without tabs) in the battery slot, in this case the user has to remove and recharge the battery with it's own external charger (not supplied by Digifly)
